Winter Will Not End

It's been raining all morning, and the weather people are predicting that later this afternoon and tonight we're going to get hit with up to 4" of snow. That, of course, will completely paralyze the area and cause apocalyptic-like events to unfold. You know, runs on basic staples in the grocery stores, car wrecks, and people behaving oddly.

Here it is a full week into March, and we can't seem to get a break. We'll be warm for a few days, and then we'll get hit with another cold snap that will make us burrow under comforters and blankets again. Not that I'm anxious for the 100+ degree heat of summer mind you, but at times the grey skies and mud (the campus of the va has become a series of muddy islands separated by vast seas of oddly smelling ground water. They were working on the septic system a while back - I don't think it's working yet! Blech!) become a bit much to take.

In other news, I'm just about finished with the church stuff, and am working up the momentum to get started on my paperwork. I have assessment appointments all afternoon, so that should keep me occupied for a while. Just so long as the day goes by quickly and I can get out of here. Neither One Ring nor I slept well last night - we're dogsitting her brother's dog again, and she's not too keen on all this nasty weather. I was awoken at 3:30 by a Rat Terrier dancing on my head and licking my face. Yes, the dog survived, although it was touch and go for a while there!

(By the way, this from the Wikipedia article on the breed: In Bram Stoker's "Dracula", Rat Terriers are called upon to help defeat the infamous vampire after he manifests into a plague of rats). I must have missed that part. : )

Well, there's some more that I'd like to write about, but for the moment there is a paycheck that needs to be earned. More later.

Peace.
