I was out of town last weekend, and found when I returned to work on Tuesday that the office elves had mysteriously increased my workload. So I have spent the last several days buried in paperwork and meetings - I know, one cannot be buried in a meeting, but bear with me; it's been a bad week! - trying to get back on track.
On top of that, I've been selected to lead the worship service at my church this Sunday, so I have to get all that material together.
On top of that, I've found myself grieving the loss of my mentor far more than I had expected. I mean, the man meant the world to me, but I thought after watching his health decline over the years and how hard it was for him to get around, this would actually be easier. But it's not, and the world feels a little bit emptier knowing that he's not around. You can read Rev. Britton's obituary here.
My Goddaughter's baptism went very well, and One Ring and I even got a chance to babysit her on Sunday night, a task for which I was not all that mentally prepared. Still, One Ring says I did an okay job, not dropping the child when holding her or otherwise causing her or my demise. I told them that they owed me, though!
Tigger and Pooh, her parents, have already informed us that Boo's first birthday will be celebrated at - where else - Walt Disney World. Which leaves us to try and scrape together enough money to join the party. We have until October, though, so hopefully that will be enough time. Especially if we keep expenses to a minimum, it should be doable.
Sharkbait, a friend of his, and I managed to squeeze in a game of Pirates, in which I did surprisingly well. I lost by only one point, and sank one ship belonging to the friend (who was reported to be an expert at the game) and captured one of Sharkbait's ships, which was ladened with gold. I have pics from the match, and will post them later. Right now I still have lots of work that needs doing and a bit of lunch to eat. So more later.
Peace.
